What’s up? Helping to make this website has been one of the coolest school assignments ever. Yeah, I know there are lots of social networking sites out there, but this one is just for kids and adults in our community. And, it’s focused on helping to make the school and the whole Springdale community a better place. One way that we’re trying to make Springdale better is by stopping bullying. I used to be bullied when I was younger (and a lot shorter!) and I’ve had some good friends bullied, too. So, I know how horrible it can make you feel. Our school has just started some cool things to help stop bullying. Check out KB Floofinatta’s blog about “Springdale Friends.”
I’ve also been working with Coach Cruncher and some of my friends to deal with bullying in athletics. Let’s face it, we all know that kids can often be bullied in PE classes, in school locker rooms, and during games or meets at school and in the community. Here are things we've started to do at our school:
- We've got really straight rules about bullying that are posted in the school gym, in the locker room, and even at the community gym. Coach Cruncher and the other coaches have told everyone how serious they are about bullying. It doesn’t matter how good an athlete you are. If you break the rules and bully others, you’ll be sitting on the bench. The coaches also have grown eyes in the back of their heads. There isn't too much that gets by them!
- OK, so the coaches can’t see everything...so that's where we students come in. Older students try to set the tone to let everyone know that bullying isn’t cool and that Coach will be hearing about it if we see it happening.
- On all of the athletic shirts–underneath the Springdale Spartan mascot, we’ve printed "Take a Stand. Lend a Hand. Stop Bullying Now!" It’s the slogan for the National Bullying Prevention Campaign. I like having it on our shirts because it’s a good reminder about what we Spartans stand for!
That's it for now. Be sure to visit my blog again.
Great job at the track meet, Josh!

I've gone to school in Springdale since I was little. I love running track, and I think we’re going to
have a really good team this year! I also like spending time with me friends, going to the movies, and playing the drums.
